West Drayton Mountain Bike Club

Well we start off with a big dose of respect to those that braved the elements this weekend and raced, its a split decision which ride was the best in the Brass Monkeys Series, Jackie's absolute domination of the ladies vets with a win by a country mile or Julian Paphitis 5th place in the 3hr class, in the mens 2hrs vets race Stefano impressed with 4th, Matt Craner was a little further back in 7th and Shaun Higgins was 17th whilst Nick Evans was 24th in the 2hr open. Not sure of all the cross results as yet but I know we had a few people riding at Abingdon -with Neil finishing an excellent 3rd. On the riding front I think rain stopped play on Sunday for most but as I was away I can't be sure, during the week the re were people out both Tuesday and Thursday at Hillingdon and Black Park respectively. Looking ahead to this week there is training at Hillingdon on Tuesday, the plan is 90 mins of Level 2 riding, so that by the time people have ridden there and back the total time should be up to 2. 1/2hrs, we start at 6 and people can join in as they arrive-remember if you are planning on doing anything next season now is the time to get the ground work in which should be a majority of level 2 rides, combined with some core/strength training Saturday, Nick S is organising a social MTB ride meeting at 9:00 at the West Drayton Railway station, details of the ride have been posted up on the club face book page. Also Saturday it is the clubs first track session of the winter at Calshot, the session starts at 9:30 and runs to 12:30, the plan is to meet at my place at 7:15 to go down in convoy and so that people can share lifts-room for 6 in the club van, anyone wanting more details or who fancies it and has not told me get in touch Also the Clubs AGM this year is on the 5th December in Ruislip, this is the one evening we get all formal, so if yu are interested in how the club will be run next year make sure you come along. The club annual reliability ride has been renamed the Bucks Road Sportive for 2015 and will be held on the 22nd Feb so make sure you put this date in your diary when we can see who has been training hard over the winter, entries open on the 15th December-so spread the word Also the plans for the 2015 road trip are now ready details as follows A 7 day tour from Thonon Les Bains France to Riva Del Garda Italy. The scheduled dates will be from the 12th Sept to 19th Sept.Picked to be after the Nats and Southerns as well as avoiding school holiday season and yet still be good weather. Distances will be around 100-120km a day, but will be mountainous with the Stelvio Pass likely to be the Highest point. The plan is that people either fly to Geneva and make there own way to Thonon Les Bains which is an hours transfer by bus or come over in the club van.Likely to be leaving very eary Sat morning or going overnight Friday. The return journey will be most likely fly from Verona which is about an hour away by car. The suggested daily stages will be Thonon Les Bains Sion Brig Bellinzona Chavenna Zernek Pointe De Nero Torbole Lake Garda Numbers are strictly limited to 20, I need to know a rough estimate as to who is interested , once I do, I will confirm the trusted driver, "Tom the wheels" is available to do the support vehicle and will look at getting deposits of people in the very near future. Any Qs come back to me, in terms of cost, would think it will be close to the cost of this years trip,£500-£600 however the costs to get the van back from Italy will entail a bit more driving but split between 18 or so should not raise the stakes to much and will be about a 1/4 of the price of an organised tour operators fees Cheers Chris Notable dates 29th Nov Calshot velodrome 20th Dec Xmas Club Do 22nd Feb Club Bucks Road Sportive 21st March Clubs Specialized Road Crits Rnd 1 28th March Clubs Specialized Road Crits Rnd 2 4th April Clubs Clubs Specialized Road Crits Rnd 1 Summer 2015 June Jura Mountain MTB trip 12th to 19th Sept TBC Dolomites Road trip ...
