West Drayton Mountain Bike Club

It was a blank weekend on the racing front but the good news for the club was that after Neils efforts over the winter was that when the final standings were worked out he took an excellent 2nd overall in the Central Cyclo Cross League with Jorge also making the top 10 and mentions for Ray Wade, Siobhan, Graeme T and Sean D so well done to all. As usual despite the lack of racing there was still lots going on, Tuesday despite a bitterly cold evening we had a good turn out for the Tuesday night training at Hillingdon, the idea of this training at the moment is to make the transition from the long steady Sunday training to the next level with the accent on a little more speed. The programme for this week is to split into 2 groups if sufficient numbers and then the stronger riders in the group should do half lap changes, the weaker ones ¼ lap so every one gets a good work out, if you get dropped then take the opportunity to recover wait for the group to come round again and then jump back in.The idea is that this will get you used to the speed, Saturday morning we had a very big turn out for the MTB training around the proposed Southern XC course at Black Park, the general opinion is that the cct is good and we just need to put a few subtle changes in and a bit more prepping to make it even better. Sunday we had a training road ride and another 4hr ride in the bank and Andy S also organised a Look Out Ride. Riding wise over this week, Tuesday we have the evening road training, Saturday morning we have the Calshot velodrome session, this is the last one of the winter so why not give it a go-lifts available from the Uxbridge area. Sunday there will be another road ride around the 4hr mark-meet at The Malt Shovel at 9.30 the proposed route will be on the clubs Garmin page-e-mail me if you want a link to it.Once again hopefully someone will also post up a social MTB ride for the weekend The next batch of club clothing has arrived if you want something then let me know as we do have a new stock of tops/bib shorts in most sizes If you want a regular weekly e-mail sent to you remember to let Peter Manley know your e-mail address. The Specialized Concept stores offer of buy one tyre get the next at 50% closes at the end of next week so if you need any tyres for the rest of the season now is the time to buy. The Jura MTB trip for those that paid their deposits is now booked Don't forget to keep checking our facebook page for latest details on club events or the club website. Those coming on the Italy road trip, hopefully you got the update on the trip, if and when able to after the Xmas expenses, we do need another £50 each as we have started to pay deposits in hotels, e-mail me when you have paid so that I can check it has gone into the club accounts The clubs annual reliability ride has been renamed the Bucks Road Sportive for 2015 and will be held on the 22nd Feb and entries are now open for this, so make sure you put this date in your diary when we will be able to see who has been training hard over the winter. On line entry is at and still awaiting a number of you to pre enter especially most of the 14 that were out on the road ride today! Also 6 of us are doing an off road randonee in France on the 8th March details at Sunday, the HQ is near to Boulogne so would not entail to much travelling anone else keen let me know Cheers Chris Notable dates 31st Jan Calshot 22nd Feb Club Bucks Road Sportive 1st March Round 1 Southern MTB series Black Park 8th March French MTB Sportive-Boulogne 21st March Clubs Specialized Road Crits Rnd 1 28th March Clubs Specialized Road Crits Rnd 2 4th April Clubs Clubs Specialized Road Crits Rnd 3 17th May Bucks Off Road Sportive June 28th -3rd July Jura Mountain MTB trip July 24/12 Sept 13-20 Dolomites Road trip ...
